Ann Harmon Mayes RYT

Ann began her yoga journey as a student in 1988. Through a process of self-discovery and inner work, she realized that teaching was truly her calling. After graduating from Into this World Yoga Teacher Training, she became a registered teacher with Yoga Alliance and received her certification in restorative yoga as a Relax and Renew Trainer. In keeping with her commitment to her students' safety, Ann is also certified in CPR and she continues to take Advanced Yoga Teacher Trainings. In the spring of 2008 Ann assisted renowned instructor Judith Lasater at her NYC restorative yoga teacher certification training.

Ann's method of teaching can best be described as Health through Introspection and Postures (HIP). Her classes focus on the unity of body, mind, and spirit to help her students find balance and bring the positive energy of a yoga practice into their lives on and off the mat. Her classes are challenging, spiritual and serene, with a focus on centering meditations, breath work, alignment of postures and yoga philosophy for daily living. Namasté.

Offering group classes to the community and private yoga training.

Testimonials

"Ann makes yoga accessible, relaxing and fun for her students. She possesses a unique ability to verbally articulate the nuances of each pose, helping new students get up-to-speed quickly while simultaneously inspiring deeper understanding in more experienced students. Ann's style is gentle and nurturing: she weaves postures together into a seamless flow, always suggesting modified poses for students with injuries and encouraging students to become more aware of their bodies with each movement. Ann's studio environment is beautiful and calming; it is a lovely place to practice for first-timers and experienced yogis and yoginis alike. I encourage you to try a class!" — L.F. Harmon

"Dear Ann, After attending your yoga class Saturday morning when I was in NY, I wanted to tell you that whenever I am visiting NY, the first thing I'll do is attend another of your classes!. Upon entering your lovely studio, I felt immediately at ease and at home. When the class began, you gently guided me inward, dissolving all thoughts into the universe. Your instructions are simple and clear, and the postures are do-able at any level. You tailored them to each of us, at our own level, and guided us accordingly. I was so impressed as a beginner amongst more advanced students. I left the class feeling refreshed and renewed, limber and calm. Thank you for this incredibly positive experience. See you next time! "Dear Ann, Thank you very much for a most enjoyable yoga class. I felt really good during and after the session, despite some stiffness here and there. I particularly liked the room with its wonderful cheerful colors. Everything was so nicely set up and done in a timely fashion. I like your method of teaching and I am looking forward to next week. Thank you again, Monica"
